Conestoga does vet and assesses each vendor before making any discounts, or programs available to alumni; however, Conestoga does not endorse, sponsor, or guarantee any of the products, services, or providers associated with these discounts. Participation in any of the posted programs is entirely voluntary and not a condition of employment. 

Alumni are encouraged to carefully review the terms and conditions, refund and cancellation policies, privacy practices, and security measures of each offer before making any purchases or entering any agreements/contracts. Conestoga is not responsible for the actions or services provided by the vendors, terms of use as set out by the vendors, privacy policies, or any other agreements associated with third-party websites or portals. The college makes no representations regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or security of any content, pricing, or evaluations found on these sites. The discount programs and offers are subject to change without notice. Alumni acknowledge that some programs may involve physical activity or third-party services and accepts any associated risks.

The college continually evaluates the overall use and value of these programs to ensure they remain helpful and relevant to employees. Alumni agree to release and hold harmless Conestoga, its affiliates, and employees from any claims or liabilities arising from participation in any of the programs.

Privacy

Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (Conestoga College) collects personal information from students under the legal authority of the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act to offer a comprehensive program of career-oriented, post-secondary education and training, for the following purposes:

-making admission decisions and undertaking enrolment
-providing financial assistance and awards
-providing academic and ancillary services
-making advancement and graduation decisions
-administering the above activities
-providing a safe learning and working environment

Conestoga College is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your personal information. Conestoga College has established practices and procedures to ensure that your personal information is secure, confidential, and available only to staff who require access as it pertains to departmental services. Specifically, Conestoga College maintains policies and practices, according to its obligations under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Conestoga College only discloses student personal information to third parties based on your consent, if required by law or as otherwise authorized by section 42 of FIPPA. For example, section 42 of FIPPA permits Conestoga College to release personal information to aid a law enforcement investigation and to facilitate the auditing of government programs.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act also requires Conestoga College to comply with Ministry reporting requirements that may entail the disclosure of student personal information along with statistical or aggregate information.

Privacy breaches

A privacy breach is when personal health information and/or personal information is stolen, lost, or is collected, used, or disclosed without authority.

Personal information includes recorded information about an identifiable individual as defined in FIPPA. Information related to a person acting in their business capacity is not personal information. This includes business addresses, work titles, business phone numbers, and Conestoga issued email addresses.

Personal health information includes recorded health information about an identifiable individual as defined in the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) as it relates to the provision of healthcare services.

If you believe a privacy breach has occurred, please complete the electronic privacy breach reporting form and follow the Privacy Breach Procedure. A staff member of the Privacy Office will follow up with you within one business day.

Freedom of Information (FOI)

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) provides individuals with the right to:

-access personal information held by Conestoga College
-access general records about the management and operation of Conestoga College
-correct their personal information held by Conestoga College

Freedom of information requests

Please follow these steps to submit a freedom of information request to Conestoga College:

Download and complete the Freedom of Information request form (pdf).Mail the completed form and required $5.00 application fee in the form of a cheque or money order (do not mail cash). Please make the cheque out to "Conestoga College". In the memo section of the cheque, please write "FOI Request". Please include the name of the person submitting the FOI request on the cheque.

Once Conestoga College has received your completed form and $5 application fee, you will receive confirmation from the Privacy Office that your request has been received.

Conestoga College will respond to your request within 30 calendar days from date of receipt of form and $5 application fee. However, there are circumstances under FIPPA where Conestoga College is permitted to extend the time limit beyond the 30 days. Conestoga College may issue a time extension to consult with a third party regarding your request, if there is a large volume of responsive records to review and/or a lengthy search for responsive records.

Additional fees authorized by FIPPA (Regulation 460) may be required to cover for searching, reproducing, severing, and otherwise preparing a record for disclosure. View the freedom of information fee schedule.

Conestoga College will notify you in writing regarding the outcome of your request.

If you disagree with the decision, you may appeal the decision to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

1. Who We Are

We are Alumni-Perks Inc. as well as our family of affiliated companies (collectively referred to herein as “Alumni-Perks” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

We provide exclusive contests, events, and retail savings services electronically, including but not limited to the services accessed through the Site (the “Services”). 5. Why We Collect Personal Information

We collect Personal Information in order to facilitate the Services that are offered through the Site including: completing your registration for the Services, establishing and verifying your identity, activating and maintaining your account profile, providing you technical support, offering updates, communicating with you about products and services, and fulfillment and processing of transactions.

We may also put Personal Information to other uses, which may include communicating information and offers to you; responding to your questions, inquiries, comments and instructions; to better understand, analyze, and respond to your needs and preferences; for our business management purposes; the Services ordered; and to subsequently develop, enhance, and/or provide products and services to meet those needs and preferences.

We also keep track of your Service preferences and instructions and analyze that information. In addition to providing the Services to you, we may use Personal Information to respond by email to an inquiry that you posted online. Your Personal Information may also be used by us to contact you regarding other products or services which may be of interest to you, for fraud prevention, and for our customer appreciation programs. Your Personal Information may be combined with other Personal Information collected by us to provide aggregate statistical information about customers’ service usage preferences.

Your Personal Information may be passed on to a third party in the event of a transfer of ownership or assets, or a bankruptcy, of Alumni-Perks or any of its affiliates or distributors. Alumni-Perks or any of its affiliates or distributors may also disclose your Personal Information to one or more of their respective subsidiary and parent companies and businesses, and other affiliated legal entities and businesses who are under common corporate control. However, all of the parent, subsidiary and affiliated legal entities and businesses of Alumni-Perks that receive your Personal Information will comply with the terms of this Privacy Policy with respect to their use and disclosure of such Personal Information.

Be aware that the Site may contain links to other websites provided and maintained exclusively by third parties, not subject to this Privacy Policy. Please review the privacy policies on any external websites to determine their information handling practices. Alumni-Perks will not be liable in any circumstances for any damages whatsoever, direct or indirect, resulting from any third-party website linked to the Site, whether or not we are advised of the possibility of such damages.

6. How We Collect Personal Information

(a) When you register for an account or interact with our Services.

We collect Personal Information when you access a Site or seek to access the Services, including when you register a profile with us. We use this Personal Information to create your account, enable your activity within our Services, manage your account, process transactions, and to provide the Services generally, including to develop, enhance, and improve our Services and your experience. We also use this data for internal purposes related to certain research, analytics, innovation, testing, monitoring, customer communication, risk management, fraud prevention and administrative purposes.

(b) When you communicate with us or sign up for promotional materials

We collect Personal Information when you communicate with us or sign up to receive promotional materials or information via email, push notifications, or text messages - including via email address, mobile number, etc.

If you consent to such messages, we may use your Personal Information and other information to communicate with you to provide you with promotional messages and personalized advertising; to notify you of other products; to notify you of contests, challenges, sweepstakes, and other promotions; to notify you of Services we think may be of interest to you; and, for other marketing purposes.

Please note that regardless of your email settings, we may send you notifications pertaining to the performance of our Services, such as revision of our Terms or this Privacy Policy or other formal communications relating to the processing of the Services.

We may use your Personal Information to respond to your requests for technical support, online Services, information regarding your account, your orders, or to any other communication you initiate. This includes accessing your account to address technical support requests. We may also use your Personal Information to address your requests, enquiries, and complaints.

(c) When you engage with our online communities or advertising.

We may collect your Personal Information when you engage with our online communities. This includes when you click on advertisements, interact with our social media pages, submit content, leave reviews, or otherwise enter information into comment fields, blogs, message boards, events, and other community forums sponsored by or affiliated with Alumni-Perks.

(d) When we leverage and/or collect cookies, device IDs, Location, data from the environment, and other tracking technologies.

We may collect certain Personal Information using cookies and other technologies such as web beacons, device IDs, and IP addresses. We specifically use browser cookies for different purposes, including cookies that are strictly necessary for functionality and cookies that are used for personalization, performance/analytics, and advertising. 7. Sharing of Personal Information

Your Personal Information has been collected by us in connection with your signing up for the Services, and for the other uses described in the Why We Collect Personal Information section above. By providing your Personal Information to us, you are consenting to our sharing that information as described in this Privacy Policy, including without limitation sharing your Personal Information as required in order to provide the Services.

We will not otherwise share your Personal Information, except: to third parties performing functions on our behalf (such as analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, providing search results and links, hosting, providing, maintaining or operating our services, and providing customer service); where we are required by law to disclose Personal Information; in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings; in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and identity verification); and, to the purchaser (or prospective purchaser) of any business or asset which we are (or are contemplating) selling, we will require any person or entity to whom we provide your Personal Information to agree to comply with our then-current Privacy Policy. 11. Access

We will advise you on request about what Personal Information about you that we have collected. If you provide a written or email request for this information, we will act upon this request within 30 days and may charge a reasonable cost (e.g. photocopying and mail charges) to the individual making the request. You may be required to provide sufficient proof of your identity at this time to ensure the safety and security of the Personal Information we hold and that it is provided to individuals in accordance with this Policy. We reserve the right to decline to provide access to Personal Information where the information requested: would disclose Personal Information of another individual or of a deceased individual; is subject to legal privilege; is personal health information that was not provided to us directly by the individual requesting access; is not readily retrievable and the burden or cost of providing would be disproportionate to the nature or value of the information; does not exist, is not held, or cannot be found by us; could reasonably result in serious emotional harm to the individual or another individual, or serious bodily harm to another individual; or, may harm or interfere with law enforcement activities and other investigative or regulatory functions of a body authorized by statute to perform such functions. We will not respond to repetitious or vexatious requests for access.

12. Updating or Correcting Your Information

You may in most cases correct or update your Personal Information by accessing your account directly, or by instructing us to do so on your behalf.

You represent and warrant that all Personal Information you provide us is true and correct and relates to you and not to any other person.

13. Security and Retention

We operate secure data networks protected by industry-standard password protected systems, and maintain physical, encryption, electronic and procedural safeguards to guard the integrity and privacy of these systems and of your Personal Information. Although we cannot guarantee that there will never be a security problem, we and our agents that have access to your information carefully guard against the loss, misuse or alteration of the information we collect on our Site.

We will retain your Personal Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Services to you. We will retain and use your Personal Information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

The Site is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. The Personal Information and Protection of Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) governs information gathering online from or about children under the age of 13 in Canada.
